John 11:1-57 Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha..
The story of Lazarus being raised from the dead teaches us that we are to trust Jesus despite our circumstances. We know that Jesus has the answer and is able to work a miracle in our lives.
Like 'doubting' Thomas, Mary and Martha, we may all battle unbelief when going through a difficult time in our lives. Despite this, we are still chosen to be his disciples.
John 11:21-26 And whosover believes in Me shall never die - Do you believe this?
When we are wondering, like Mary - 'Lord why were you not here earlier?' Remember that Jesus said about Lazarus that 'This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God' (John 11:4). Our life is unto the glory of God.
Before Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, he asked the people nearby to 'take away the stone' (John 11:39). This shows us that we need to do all we can and then we leave the rest up to God.
If we are sick we 'move the stones' in our life - we pray and fast, read the Word, seek support and encouragement from our brothers and sisters... then Jesus will perform the miracle.
WE MOVE THE STONE AND JESUS RAISES THE DEAD.
We do the POSSIBLE and God does the IMPOSSIBLE!
