The battle is not your's - It's God's

Chandler St: Sunday 22 June 2008

Pastor David: Faith 1 Cor 13:13

While the Word of God and prayer is our foundation, faith, hope and love are the three pillars supporting who we are.

Because of faith, we are God's agents for change.

Because of hope we are evangelists.

Because of love, we are willing and cheerful servants.

A great example of faith is Jehoshaphat in 2 Chron 20. When faced with a seemingly insurmountable problem he did the smart thing. He called on God '.we don't know what to do, but our eyes are on you'. God responded to him with 'The battle is not yours but mine - stand still and see your salvation'. And so they did: their battles started being won as soon as they started singing and praising God.

A poor example of faith is also Jehoshaphat in the same chapter where when another problem arose, he turned for help to another king rather than God. This time his effort, a navy that he built, was destroyed by God.

 So faith:

     ·         Is required to please God

·         By exercising it we become perfect

·         It's generated by hearing the Word of God

Entering God's Rest

Thursday, 19 June 2008 8:41 AM

Chandler St:  Sunday 15 June 2008

Jordan spoke about entering into Gods Rest.  We have been provided some signs that invite us to enter into the rest that God has provided.  Its up to us to take God up on that offer.  We also have been promised things as being part of Gods inheritance - We need to reach out and own those promises.  Download here for encouragement of taking up God's challenge of entering his rest.
