Listen to the talk here.
Today P. Michael spoke to us about how the Spirit of God brings liberty into our life through Jesus Christ.
Jesus has set us free from the consequence and the penalty of sin, which is ultimately death. We are free to worship him, to walk in right-standing before him and to pray to him with absolute confidence that he hears us.
2 Corin 3:17-18 - Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty..'
We know that through the sacrifice of Jesus, the grace and forgiveness of God is available to us. In the Old Testemant, there were two ways someone in slavery or debt could be set free. The first was at the Year of Jubilee (50th year) and the other was if the redemption price was paid. If you were in slavery, a near relative could buy you back - this person was called a Redeemer.
Jesus is OUR Redeemer. Jesus brought us out of slavery to sin. He has paid the full price for our salvation with his blood.
Titus 2:14 - Who gave Himself for us that He might redeem us from all iniquity and purify to Himself a special people, zealous of good works.'
Eph 1:7 - In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.'
But we know that this freedom is not an opportunity for the flesh. We are no longer our own, and we are not free to live a life of sin (Gal 5:13). We are no longer slaves to sin - our desire is to be servants of righteouness (Rom 6:18) and to give honour to God in our testimony to others.
And finally - we are looking forward to the Day of Redemption when Jesus Christ returns!
Rom 8:22-23 '... even we ourselves groan within ourselves, awaiting adoption, the redemption of our body'
