Prayer & Fast Sat 16 August

Tuesday, 17 August 2004 1:00 AM

Renewing Revival

We had a great time at our prayer and fast on Saturday (16 August 2008).  The theme was revival, and it was explored in many ways.

You may download the talks here.

We use the word 'revival' in our name - and for a very good reason. We preach an active God - a God who is continually making all things new. And our walk also needs to be continually refreshed (2 Cor 4:16), so that we can share God's good things with those with whom we fellowship, work and associate. May each of us have a deep heart's desire that all of our friends and family, whether they are saints yet or not, can be revived to a life that is to go on forever.

Jesus said that when He left His disciples that they would need to fast, so that's what we're doing. Being obedient to our calling, supporting each other, and growing in grace. Please also consider beginning your fast early in some way - evening meals; anything sweet; TV etc. Anything that will allow you to spend more time in the Word and prayer before we actually come together.

I was challenged by a statement I heard recently 'Friends don't let friends go to hell'. If you've been feeling a little flat spiritually, or maybe you've allowed things to drift such that you find it hard to share your good news about Christ, then this is the place to be. If you're on top of the world, then come and share your testimony.

May God richly bless your walk and our work together.

Coober Pedy RF - Marks 25 yrs

COOBER PEDY REVIVAL FELLOWSHIP - SILVER ANNIVERSARY

11th August 2008 marks the 25th anniversary of the beginnings of the CPRF. On 11th August 1983 about thirty people attended a gathering I held here and 5 people requested Baptism. In May 1984 my wife Valerie and I purchased a small underground home and moved from Adelaide to live and work in this remote opal mining town, and to minister to the small group.

Over the years we have had the privilege to preach the Gospel to residents of Coober Pedy, to tourists from many parts of the world (both nationally and internationally), to Baptise and see many Australian indigenous people receive the Holy Spirit, and to be a destination for members of various Revival Fellowships to come to for witnessing and 'R & R'. (To date we have seen 347 Baptisms).

As the township has such a small population (around 3500), it is impractical and unworkable to have a large single event or gathering to mark the passage of 25 years. We intend to set up a brochure for use during the next twelve months, highlighting the development of the town from primarily an opal mining outpost to encompass worldwide tourism. This will have on one side the dates of significant events (water, power, roads, hospital, etc.) and highlight the date of our beginnings. The reverse will be the Good News of the Gospel.  Hopefully some of the residents will be interested to see that the continuance of our meetings and presence predates many things now taken for granted here.

We want to place on record our gratefulness for so much support over the years. Thanks to fellow Pastors for encouragement, thanks to so many saintly friends who have spent time with us to keep us going, thanks to visitors who have assisted with ministry allowing me to have the involvements I have been privileged to have in PNG, Bali and elsewhere, thanks to all brothers and sisters who have prayed for us.

A special thanks to my wife, children and grandchildren who have had to forgo much to allow all this to take place. May God bless you all abundantly. I believe that the harsh, remote conditions have provided a very special insight for us in life. (Attached are a few thoughts about the 'wilderness experience' which you may download here).

This has been an amazing adventure that we are happy to share with anyone if it can engender faith.

Keep on rejoicing and serving!  Hebrews 6:10, Proverbs 25:25. Paul, whist imprisoned, wrote the wonderfully inspirational thoughts of Philippians 4:11-13.

God bless,

Deane

Men's Weekend

Mens Weekend

All those who made it to the Men's camp had an awesome weekend of fellowship and ministry.  The setting was Greenhills, which had great en suite facilities and plenty of good yummy food (which goes down well with guys).

The focus of the weekend was challenging us to be effective leaders in all aspects of our lives.

"I enjoyed the whole weekend; some high-lights for me were Pr.David's thoughts: "Be a servant, minister to others by presenting His testimony in us through demonstration; and leaders are made by godly decisions they make. We are all a part of a team. Let's work with God, and each other. And especially this one; "don't preach, just practice!"   Brian Rees

Pr David's notes are available for download here.

Pr Godfrey on Foxtel

"The PNG Revival DVD, Gods Country, premiered On Foxtel"

On Sunday night 3 August, God's Country premiered on Foxtel's Australian Christian Channel.  Here's some feedback.

"it was such a blessing to watch and to know that some people in Australia were exposed to the wonderful simple message of salvation. Also for them to see the power of the Holy Spirit inside people, changing them and healing them.  We are such a fortunate church to know the truth and to have the power to be a new creation." Janette Hall

"We watched it in Goulburn as an Assembly and we all thought it was fantastic!" Lisa Judd

"This was great, even though we've watched it before, felt so proud to have something of this quality on ACC" Anne Beverley

If you don't have access to Foxtel then you needn't miss out.  Visit  here and you will be able to view a clip of God's Country or register your interest to purchase a copy of God's Country on DVD.
