The Prodigal Son - Restoration
Sunday 22 March 2009
Ps. Michael Nagy
Download the talk here.
Today Ps. Mike looked at the parables in Luke 15:3-32 and how they speak to us about Restoration:
- Parable of the lost sheep
- Lost silver coin
- Prodigal son
God's desire is to restore that which is lost. He made the ultimate sacrifice at the cross to restore men and women to Himself. We know that the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin and his only requirement is that we confess our sin - and he will forgive us (1 Jn 1:7-9)
Col 1:20 'And through Him having made peace through the blood of his cross, it pleased the Father to reconcile all things to Himself through Him, whether the things on earth or the things in Heaven.'

Alan Desmond
During this talk, Alan shares with us some suggestions about our prayer lives:
- Plan to pray - be specific about when you are going to pray and clear your mind before you start
- Plan a place to pray - 'enter into your closet'
- Make a list - of things and people you need to pray for and pray for people you don't know you need to pray for yet
- It helps to begin with a scripture, such as James 5:13 'Is any among you afflicated? let him pray.. and the prayer of faith shall save the sick... for the effectual fervant prayer of a righteous man avails much'
- Make yourself accountable to someone - find someone to remind you to pray to encouarge you in your prayer

Pastor Bob Beverley
Sunday 15 February 2009
Listen to the talk here.
P. Bob spoke today about the Passover that Jesus has led us to and how Jesus through his ministry was seeking to demonstrate that he was the fulfillment of the Passover pattern.
The Passover was one of the most significant events in the history of the Israel nation. Just as the children of Israel were delivered out of bondage through the death of the passover lamb, Jesus - the perfect lamb of God, has also delivered us from the bondage of sin.
John the Baptist understood this when he declared in John 1:29-30 "Behold the Lamb of God which takes away the sin of the world".
As foreshadowed by John, Jesus through his ministry was preparing the Jews to understand that He was fulfilling the Passover by becoming both the Sacrifice and Deliverer - not for the Jews only, but for all mankind. And that all mankind was in bondage to sin, and needed a sacrifice and deliverer to remove them from that state.
Through miracles such as the loaves and fishes, Jesus was teaching about the ability of the ability of God to provide for all of their needs and the true meaning of the Passover.

or, some of the things that we are in Christ.
The Bible tells us that we are to endure hardness and put on the whole armour of Christ, like Soldiers. We are also to be like Servants of Christ - serving God and serving one another. The Bible also tells us that we are to be malleable like clay in the potters hand.
We are encouraged to seek to apply the things we can learn from soldiers, servants and soil in our own spiritual walks.

When Peter denied the lord three times, he locked eyes with Jesus Christ across the room. What did he see? Was it the eyes of satan the accuser condemning him? Or the eyes of Jesus, filled with love, grace and compassion?
To understand Jesus we need to be able to forgive ourselves and others. Forgiveness is not about judging ourselves or others, it is about discerning what is wrong and realising that our saviour has forgiven us. In order for us to recognise this forgiveness in our life we need to remind ourselves about the character of the one who initially forgave us - our saviour Jesus Christ.
Jesus' character is one of love, compassion and forebearance as demonstrated in his ministry on earth and his desire for us. Jesus prayed for Peter that his faith would not fail. Jesus doesn't want our faith to fail either.
Be encouraged by this message of forgiveness from Paul available to download here.

It's on again! - March 15
Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
Colossians 3:16 NIV
Last year we held our first 'Hymns for Him' at Chandler St Church. We filled the meeting with some songs of praise that had meant something special to someone. It was such a wonderful time of praise to and about God, that due to popular demand we're doing it again.
So we're looking for you to submit some more songs (it doesn't have to be a hymn!) that means something special to you.
